For years we at Sorry Works! have talked about the importance of developing solid relationships pre-event. We want strong relationships that can be recovered post-event with empathy and pro-active problem solving. Conversely, if a relationship is weak pre-event, then no amount of "sorry" post-event may save you.

Understanding how to positively work with cultural diversity -- including understanding why African Americans mistrust medicine -- is a critical component to developing strong relationships pre-event.  Medical professionals need to think about how to interact and work with patients and families from a wide variety of racial, religious, ethnic, and other backgrounds. Moreover, we must understand the sad history that has caused African-Americans to be mistrusting of American medicine, including vaccines. Doug Wojcieszak of Sorry Works! and Dr. Victor Waters, M.D, J.D., F.C.L.M. joined forces with Medical Academy to create a CME-accredited course entitled, "Cultural Diversity, African Americans, and Medicine." The cost is only $30 per learner and provides 1 CME credit on a very timely and important topic. Click here to learn more about the course.

Dr. Waters and myself provide thoughtful, common-sense strategies to help you work with patients and families -- as well as your colleagues --- from diverse backgrounds. Again, the cost is only $30 per learner because we want everyone to complete this course on this very important and timely topic. Click this link to order and please forward this e-mail to colleagues.

Sincerely,

- Doug
